Filling Up Your Facebook Page

We’ve had lots of questions about Facebook in the last few weeks. These three ideas help you through the most common questions.

Filling up the Page!
You’ve set up your Facebook page. So how are you going to fill in with content that drives traffic to your salon? First, guidelines! If you franchise, check with your franchisor about any social media policies they may have. If you’re on your own – develop some guidelines before diving in.

With that, here are some ideas to get you started –and keep you going.

1. Content and Context
Post information that’s informative and relates to your business, your neighborhood and the industry you’re in. For example:

  • Your business
    We’re getting requests for summer highlights and shorter hair to beat the heat! Stop in this week and get your new summer ‘do!
  • Your neighborhood
    Join us as we celebrate Crazy Days this weekend! Stop in and get ½ off on products including shampoos and conditioners.
  • Your industry
    Just read that the Justin Beiber haircut is going out of style. The new look comes from the star of MTV’s Teen Wolf. Here’s a picture – bring it in and get 20% off your haircut.

2. Share the Posts
Share Facebook posts with your staff so if a guest asks, your team will understand what the guest is referring to and will be able to answer the question.

3. Be Responsive
If a guest posts a question on your business’s Facebook page, be sure to respond as quickly as possible with a thank you, an answer to a question, or a simple ‘Thanks for your post!’

4. Offer an Offer
If guests follow you on Facebook, it means they really like you. Offer Facebook fans discounts, deals or promotions that only they can use. It’s easy to create an online coupon they can print out. Or, give them a password they can use to get a free sample product. And be sure your staff knows about the coupon so they accept any special offers you post.
